Try a little petroleum jelly on the button. It stays that way for a solid 6 hours before losing heat & flavor. We, too, had the button-sticking problem on the first, but having to push on it to get it to pop closed is quite a small price to pay for a carafe of this size and quality. This is our second Zojirushi. It's a GREAT carafe, and you won't find this quality at this price ANYWHERE. Hubby makes the coffee at 5:30 a.m. I broke the glass in the first with a drop, and was on Amazon in an hour looking to replace it. & when I get to it at 8 or so, it still tastes fresh and it's as hot as hot can be.
When pouring the last couple of cups of coffee, you have to tip the carafe up quite a bit. If you take the lid off to pour, then you have to be really careful to watch out for the tipping point where the coffee just rushes over the lip and soaks the counter top. As others have noted, the design of the lid is very problematic, making it basically impossible to keep clean and eventually leading to jamming of the mechanism. This leads to coffee coming out of the top of the lid as well as the spout. We hate this thing. That alone is a major design flaw. In addition, the design of the chamber makes pouring the coffee without spilling a challenge.
Then the liquid will not pour rather easily. The clip is not that durable and can go out of place. For once in awhile use is OK but for everyday not sure if it is convenient. The carafe seems sturdy. It was not easy to open and clean.

As stated above.GREAT FOR KEEPING BEVERAGES HOT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. The "STICKING" takes place in the button area that is spring loaded. If this design flaw is corrected.I would give it 5 star rating. Great in keeping beverages hot for long periods of time. IF YOU CAN GET IT OPEN TO POUR. Sticks and is inpossible to clean.can not be removed from thermos. But only gave it 2 stars because the BUTTON that is used to open & close for pouring. Checked with Zojirushi about this was informed that only the "STOPPER" can be removed and cleaned.
